This is one of the oldest paintings of Jesus. It was found inside a catacomb - a meeting place where Christians in Roman times could be safe. Here you can see that Jesus is picture as the Good Shepherd. He has a lamb on his shoulders and is carrying water for the other sheep. Jesus takes care of his sheep!
In today's episode of Mercy Unwrapped, my friend Lani Bogart talks about how Jesus has been the Good Shepherd in her life. Lani was raised in a Christian home and wanted to love Jesus from the time she was a little girl.
All of her life Lani wanted to follow the Good Shepherd, to obey him and to be a good little sheep. She and her husband were evangelical missionaries in Guatemala. They listened to the call of Christ and were surprised that He was calling them in a different direction than what they could ever have imagined. Jesus called His sheep into the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church and like good sheep, they followed His call. Please listen to Lani's beautiful testimony and share it with someone who needs to know about the love and mercy of the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ our Lord!
I am a Catholic wife, mom and grandma. In 1995, after Bible college and a few years as an Evangelical Missionary, I was received into the Church at the Easter Vigil. These are my personal musings on Scripture, prayer, and living close to Jesus.
