During the Season of Advent we prepare to meet Jesus anew. He comes to us as a little newborn baby boy, born of a Virgin, Son of God, and Son of Man. His birth takes place in a humble, poor place. He is a King but he is born in a stable. He is the Creator of the Universe, all-powerful, but because of His great love for us, He comes to us helpless and small. God made Himself easy for us to love. It is so easy to love a baby! And it is easy let let a baby love us back. I know. I am a grandmother!
Are you ready to meet Baby Jesus? Are you ready to hold Him in your arms and love Him? Are you ready to worship and adore Him, as the shepherds did when the angel told them the Good News? God became a baby, for you and for me.
In today's Collect of the Mass, we read this prayer: "Grant that your people, we pray, almighty God, may be ever watchful for the coming of your Only Begotten Son, that, as the author of our salvation himself has taught us, we may hasten, alert and with lighted lamps, to meet him when he comes."
Is your little lamp burning? Are you anxious to see the Savior? Are you preparing the gift of your heart, your whole self, to give to Him? The time draws near. The Feast is coming! Prepare the way of the Lord!
